Rhythm, movement, harmony

Moodboard - Inspiration random rhythm. Source: pinterest

This week we had to work with Rhythm, movement and harmony. I chose to work with Rhythm and more specific random rhythm. We had to work with paper cut, collage materials either in 2D or 3D. o Chose to work with 2D.

I also chose to work with random rhythm, which i found some inspiration in the different pictures above.

Proces - picking out the different clips

Final result

I came up with this very simple piece, which includes a random rhythm. you will see it by the use of the chinese written language. I chose to right align it, to make the composition more interesting. I knew that if i wanted to have the "rhythm" effect, the different types had to be in the same direction.

Exercise 4
Week 4
Pattern, Repetition, Texture & Surface

Inspiration - src: Pinterest

For this assignment we had to develop a piece which contained one of the principles as Pattern and repetition. We had to do do it by stamps, where we used either vegetables or other materials. I Myself used a vegetable and then a juice box to make the different patterns. I only used the color green, in two different shades. At the end of the class we had a critique, where everyone had to "buy" pieces with notes.

Some of the notes i got on my piece was:

first attempt

Final Result

The first attempt I did was a bit too simple, and there was too much whitespace. The second attempt I knew I wanted to stamp it some more, and I had my reference and inspiration a lot in my mind.

Exercise 3
Week 3
Symmetry, Asymmetry

moodboard - pictures from instagram and Pinterest

final result - Symmetry

In this exercise we had to make a piece that contained either symmetry, asymmetry or ---. I chose to work with Symmetry, and I found inspiration in an artist on Instagram, same as I found some pictures on Pinterest with colours as inspiration. I Worked with Pastel colours, which gave applied roughness and more natural look.

Exercise 2
Week 2
Gestalt - Figure Ground

Exercise 2 - Gestalt Figure ground

Week 2,  exercise 2 - Gestalt figure ground. Pen, marker on white paper in A4. The idea came from the sculpture, futhermore i wanted to create even mor figure ground, which is seen on the (missing) head. With the idea of "What more could be left out", the final result was created.

Exercise 1
Week 1
Contrast

Exercise 1 - Contrast
Materials: Black paper on white in A4 size. I got the idea of a picture i saw on Pinterest, with abstract black and white art. Then i created this, with the idea of something contrasting in the colors, but also in the shapes (the round and the sharp edges). Furthermore it became more interesting with the look of a figure sliding down the edge.
