PROCESS
We were provided with different references for our final project. I began my final project with some research. I knew I wanted to do a Utopian city - with the hope of a greener and more sustainable future. I started to look at pictures on Pinterest to find some inspiration - then later I started sketching some ideas - with a description of my idea as well.
Moodboard of a Utopian city |
Paragraph of description:
Utopian Green and Sustainable city. Back to nature, with the newest technology.
I started the project by finding images, at first I had to find my landscape - I came up with the idea that I wanted it to be a Scandinavian look and landscape, mainly because it's easier to imagine a utopian future city in a tropical country, such as Singapore. Then I looked for different images of buildings that I could use Then masking the different and started to edit the picture.
My editing process consisted of masking the different objects I had to use and then a lot of editing of the colours, brightness - contrast - then using a green photo filter and a white photo filter for the different buildings. Then I used the brush a lot and the Stamp tool to make it look as realistic as possible and to blend the different objects into the background. I also used the brush to create some more white clouds/fog and to create a dark shadow on one of the buildings.
When I finished my first try of the final result I got some feedback from Mr. Jeffrey who told me to add some more buildings I furthermore suggested to add some flying cars as well and Jeffrey told me that it was a good idea. At last, I Merged all the layers into a new layer, to edit the colors a bit more to make it look like "one picture". I then Cropped the picture to apply a better composition.

Masking all the objects and importing them to the background |
editing the contrast and brightness of the different objects. |
applying a green photo filter. |
editing the different objects. |
applying a white filter to the buildings in the background to match the other buildings more. |
Adding clouds/fog with the brush tool |
Cropping picture |
Final result - Still image final project. |
My final result displays a utopian futuristic city. I wanted it to take place in a northern looking place, which wasn't a tropical place. It displays a futuristic city, where humankind and nature is way more combined, sustainable and united way.
ANIMATION OF STILL IMAGE
PROCES
I did the animation in After effects, i chose to animate some of the clouds and then the water as well. for the clouds i used to position and for the water I used the Ripple effect, where duplicated the layer and then masked the water out.
Postion for the clouds |
duplicated layer and then used the ripple effect |
masking out the water with rectangle tool. |
FINAL RESULT OF ANIMATION
REFLECTION
As an reflection I shouldn't had merged all the layers together to edit the brightness/contrast, because it gave some more work when I had to animate it. I should have used effect layers instead and then edited the brightness/contrast etc.
